This was the 2nd year for Lauren to participate in the Maryville/Alcoa Christmas Parade with her dance school, Artistic Dance Unlimited. She has ridden on the ADU float for the past two years and has done a great job! Last year, it rained, and we hid under umbrellas and blankets. This year was sunnier, but cold of course. It was nice that she was able to sit with two little friends who use to attend her Day Care. Mary and Kylie have both moved on to kindergarten, and I know that Lauren misses her old friends.
I got a kick out of Lauren as we were nearing the end of the parade. She had been smiling, waving, and shouting, "Merry Christmas!' to everyone standing along the parade route. However, by then, she was getting very tired of waving and was "over it!" She looked at me with a disgusted face and said, "I'm tired, I don't want to smile at anyone, I don't want to wave any more, and I don't want to tell any more people Merry Christmas!" I couldn't help but laugh at her (discretely of course) for that since she was just so serious about it!
